Can LaFleur pull the Packers out of their slump?

Offense Goes From Bad To Worse
Things have gone from bad to worse.
“You score seven points in this league, you’re probably not going to win many games,” said Packers coach Matt LaFleur after the Packers lost to the Eagles 10-7 at Lambeau Field on Monday night.
The Packers have allowed only 39 total points and 780 total yards in losses to Cleveland, Carolina and Philadelphia. They are the first NFL team to allow fewer than 40 points and fewer than 800 yards over their first three losses of a season since the 1940 Lions.
The Packers offense was an eyesore last week vs. the Panthers, now the offense just looks broken.
In the first half, the Packers were 0-for-5 on third down, they were behind the sticks twice in the first half and the horrible decision by Jordan Love to try and throw a pass late in the first half which ended up being a fumble and taking points off the board.
“We’re not getting into a rhythm,” said Love, who was 20-for-36 for 176 yards with a passer rating of 68.8 — by far his worst game of the season. “We’ll have a good play here and then a negative play. Whether it’s a turnover, penalty, drop sack, you know, it’s a lot of things.”
It certainly is a lot of things. The offensive line has been a leaky faucet most of the year and we all heard the drop, drop, drop last night. Love was only blitzed nine times last night, but the Eagles pressured the third-year starting quarterback nearly 50 percent of the time. It was the same story on the ground. Josh Jacobs tallied 74 rushing yards, but 56 came after contact.
Remember a couple years ago when this same offense was making opposing defenses look silly through misdirection, play-action and presnap movement? Where has all that gone?

Flailing Away - Packer Transplants Live 311
CHTV co-founders Aaron Nagler and Corey Behnke dive into the embarrassing 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and look ahead to Sunday's showdown with the New York Giants.
Stale and Predictable Doesn't Win Games
Facing 4th and 1 at their own 44-yard line with about 1:30 left on the clock, down by three points, the Green Bay Packers ran a pathetic-looking inside run to Josh Jacobs that the Philadelphia Eagles' defense just absolutely blew up for a loss of 3-4 yards. If not for Philly's questionable calls following that play, trying to end the game, this would have been it for the Packers' offense in their loss Monday night. Even if they converted, the offense was called for illegal formation, which would have pushed them five yards back, making the 4th down conversion less manageable.
It was a rushed, seemingly uninspired play call. The Packers had 26 seconds left on the play clock and two timeouts if they needed some extra time to maybe choose a better play and get set. To make matters worse, it was revealed later on, via replay, that a Philadelphia defender, DT Moro Ojomo, was calling out the play as they lined up. He could be heard yelling, "Inside zone this way, inside zone this way!" Right before the snap, as he pointed exactly where the Packers would later try to run Jacobs.

Matt LaFleur Deserves Criticism
There are a lot of things working against Matt LaFleur which make it easy to sympathize with the Packers head coach.
The offensive line has been in constant flux all year, which continued Monday night as Elgton Jenkins went out. Green Bay entered this game down Tucker Kraft, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, and Savion Williams barely played on offense.
It is not unacceptable that the Packers found it difficult to move the ball on this Eagles defense, and even then, they crossed the 50 plenty of times. But there was so much in this game that reflects extremely poorly on coaching.
Green Bay continued to shoot themselves in the foot whenever they got close to scoring range, whether it be penalties, missed assignments or turnovers. At some point, that is part of your identity and the lack of execution falls on the head coach.
Then there were the usual handful of very questionable decisions and play calls by LaFleur which had fans pulling their hair out.
Too many runs on 2nd and long to set up… 3rd and long. Sometimes too safe on 4th down and other times too aggressive. Called a timeout on 4th down with four seconds left in the first half which could have allowed the Eagles to try a hail mary.
A shotgun run on 4th and 1 with the game on the line, which was rushed – the Packers snapped the ball with 27 seconds left on the play clock – and was as disastrous as it was unimaginative. Even worse? The Eagles defensive line called out what the play would be before it was even run. That is a terrible look for an offensive play caller.
Green Bay also went with Brandon McManus at kicker again in this game, and he failed miserably with two attempts at a 64-yarder to tie the game. McManus told the ESPN broadcast crew this week that this was the first time his quad had felt somewhat healthy, which calls LaFleur’s decision to roll with him for the last two weeks even more into question.
There is no point in firing LaFleur midseason, as whoever would be available to take over at this stage is not going to make the Packers any more likely to win a Super Bowl this year. LaFleur also has an excellent track record which should not be tossed aside based on a poor stretch. He will very likely turn things around and end up getting a contract extension in the offseason, but right now, his offense looks stale and poorly coached, and that has to change.

The Packers offensive line has been a disaster
There's no sugarcoating that the offensive line has been a disaster.
We never would have imagined such a precipitous drop in performance by this group compared to last season. Injuries that took away precious training camp and regular season reps and forced shuffling of positions is surely one issue, but the unnecessary juggling of interior line positions, platooning, etc is perhaps even more of a factor.
It seems apparent they've screwed up Jordan Morgan for sure, unless of course he's just really not that good at any position. Moving Jenkins to center has proven to have weakened two positions, as Aaron Banks has not distinguished himself in any positive manner for the team.
Between injuries, penalties, missed assignments and getting blown up by defensive linemen, both Banks and Morgan have proven to be big steps backwards (We’d take Jon Runyan, who we’ll see in a Giants uniform this weekend, back over either of them right now). Banks is supposed to be a bully but we've seen him bullied himself.
Despite the guard/tackle debate, Morgan has always been a tackle, simply because we’ve never felt he was powerful enough or had the attitude for the interior. You saw him get completely blown up on the disastrous fourth down shotgun handoff to Jacobs.
And now the offensive line will be shuffled again with Rhyan moving to center after the injury to Jenkins. In 2025, it’s just one thing after another along the offensive line.
