Pro Football Retired Players Association named CHTV's first exclusive Charity Partner!
Everyone here at Cheesehead TV is incredibly proud to announce that the Pro Football Retired Player Association has been chosen as our first ever exclusive charity partner. Through the entire month of November, proceeds from every CHTV Watch Party and episode of Packer Transplants will be donated to PFRPA’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, the Greater Good Fund.
The PFRPA is a champion for retired NFL players. Their efforts are focused on bettering the lives of those who gave so much to the game. After hanging up their cleats, life after football varies for every player. The PFRPA and Cheesehead TV strongly believe that each player, no matter what their position or how long they played, should receive some level of support. In April 2016, PFRPA began its work to develop health, welfare and educational programs for retired NFL players. Through the Greater Good Fund, they are able to provide and research high-quality programs, resources and services for retired NFL players.

We Finally Have a Backup Quarterback We Can Trust
How often have you watched a game and seen the starting Quarterback go down with an injury, and the backup Quarterback comes in and still leads the team to victory? It can be a rarity. But lately, in the NFL, it's become more common. Jake Browning kept the Bengals in playoff contention with Joe Burrow going down with seven games left in the season, Josh Dobbs had an improbable situation leading the Vikings to victory in 2023 five days after being traded, and one of iur recent favorites is Tyler Huntley during his time with the Ravens who always seemed to give Baltimore a chance to win despite Lamar Jackson going down.
Given the Green Bay Packers backup QB history, these dependable number two's always made us gaze longingly at the TV wishing we could have that type of confidence if our QB ever went down.
Graham Harrell, Tim Boyle, DeShone Kizer, and Scott Tolzien are a few backup quarterbacks that Packer fans have endured in the last 10 years. None of them gave us even a prayer of confidence entering a game if the starter went down. Some of them even did have to take over for Aaron Rodgers a time or two and the results weren't pretty at all. Outside of Jordan Love's drafting in 2020 and a few years of Matt Flynn, the Packers' backup QB situation was pretty dismal during Aaron Rodgers' tenure. The idea of Aaron Rodgers having to sit out even a series or two was a nightmare. The joke "What's Matt Flynn up to?" would always pop up on social media if Rodgers got hurt following Flynn's final departure after the 2014 season.
Then? Enter Mailik Willis.
Doubs Development Into a Top Perimeter Receiver
Entering the 2024 season as the talk of the league, most of the Green Bay Packers wide receiver unit got off to slower-than-expected starts. Third-year receiver Romeo Doubs, in particular, has also faced separate hurdles that have slowed his output. Even so, Doubs' contributions to the offense have been more impactful and efficient when Jordan Love or Malik Willis look his way this season. While only garnering 20 targets through four games and no touchdowns to his credit, Doubs hit a bump in the road after missing team practice leading up to a week five match with the Los Angeles Rams, resulting in a one-game suspension. However, what seemed like a potential crossroads in his relationship with the Packers instead resulted in Doubs returning to the team, being embraced by the locker room, and instantly shining again.
After scoring his first two touchdowns of the season in week six against the Arizona Cardinals, Doubs hasn't tallied any more trips to the end zone but has increased his target share, leading the team with 20 targets since week six. He's also currently posting career highs in yards per catch (14.8), receiving success rate (62.5%), and yards per target (9.6). With Willis stepping in a few games for an injured Love, Doubs' production has been hindered by fewer targets with an adjusted game plan. Even so, there's no questioning that Doubs' reliability has vastly improved. His connection with Love has been money for the Packers, and very few receivers have had more success lining up primarily as boundary receivers this season.

Jacobs Proves He Can Carry Packers Running Game
When the Green Bay Packers signed running back Josh Jacobs in free agency, many fans weren’t sure what to expect of the position. Within 24 hours of Jacobs agreeing to terms with the Packers, longtime running back Aaron Jones was both released and then signed by the rival Minnesota Vikings. The moves marked a change in direction for the Packers with their running back position. In two of the three games when the Packers did not have starting quarterback Jordan Love, they were able to rely on Jacobs, a workhorse-type running back. Jacobs had his two lone 100-yard games in the two wins over Indianapolis and Jacksonville. He also had his first multi-touchdown game in the green and gold, highlighted by his 38-yard run to daylight in the third quarter.
Having a question mark at quarterback going into this weekend’s game against the Lions, it might be wise for the Packers to once again lean on Jacobs and the rest of the Packers running game to give it its best chance in this critical NFC North showdown.

Packers Vs. Jaguars - 3 Plays That Make You Go Hmmm
After re-watching the Packers game, here are three plays that made Jersey Al go hmmm, for various reasons. In general, Al tries to focus on a theme, the less obvious, or things he didn't notice watching live.
We’re not sure how the Packers manage to continually find hidden gems like Chris Brooks. He was an undrafted free agent in 2023 that signed with the Dolphins, made their roster and played in nine games. He was released with an injury settlement this year and the Packers promptly signed him to their practice squad. With MarShawn Lloyd ending up on IR, Brooks got the call up and has done nothing but impress. LaFleur has talked him up several times in pressers and we’re sure one of the reasons is he does the little things right - like pass protection. On our first play, he enters the game in an obvious passing situation (2nd and 11) and he has one job, pick up anyone coming on a blitz. He does just that, completely neutralizing the blitzing linebacker. Brooks has good size (6'1", 219lbs), runs hard, can catch, has been schooled in the finer points of the position with Miami, and as you saw when he gave himself up just a few yards from a TD, listens to the coaches. He out-snapped Emanuel Wilson 17 to 12 on Sunday and was in on 14 special teams snaps to Wilson's 0. Those may be the sounds of footsteps you hear creeping up behind Wilson.
