Spotlight Potential: The Power of Love
Never underestimate the Power of Love, word to Celine Dion. It has been fascinating to observe the lack of belief from folks that just automatically assume Jordan Love is not capable of ascending as a top quarterback in the league. Whether it is the strong haterade they are sipping on or just a lack of paying attention, Love has balled out in his first two years as a starter for Green Bay.
Yes, there have been growing pains but that is expected. Bottom line is that Love is 2/2 in leading the Packers to the playoffs following the footsteps of arguably the greatest player in the franchise’s history. Give the man his flowers!
Many Decisions to Make For Packers’ 2022 Draft Class
With the release of former Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander last week, the Green Bay Packers freed up future cap savings. The release saves about $36 million over the next two years, which will be very important as the Packers have some very interesting decisions about their 2022 draft picks.
The 2022 draft by the Packers has been a sparkplug for the team’s recent resurgence, with two playoff appearances in the first two seasons under quarterback Jordan Love. This will be the 4th season for the seven remaining players taken in 2022, which will lead to decisions to make on all of them, as six of them will be free agents after the season. Last offseason, the Packers traded with the Tennessee Titans for quarterback Malik Willis. Willis, a third round pick in 2022, will also be a free agent after the season.
Take a look at the 10 picks from 2022 (along with Willis)
Jaire Alexander signs with the Baltimore Ravens
The former Packers cornerback has signed a one year deal with the Baltimore Ravens, reuniting him with college teammate Lamar Jackson. Alexander’s deal is reportedly one-year for $4 million with the ability to earn $2 million more in incentives for $6 million maximum value.
The Packers will see Jaire in a Ravens uniform up close when Baltimore travels to Green Bay in late December for a late season showdown.

These Depth Wide Receivers Made a Big Impression
The Green Bay Packers have a crowded receiver room.
The team will likely keep six wideouts on the 53-man roster to start the season and they have a lot of candidates to fill those spots. First round pick Matthew Golden and third round pick Savion Williams are locks to make the roster. Jayden Reed led the Packers in catches last year. Dontayvion Wicks and Romeo Doubs both played major roles last year. Yet, two other wideouts made a big impression at OTAs. They are free agent addition, Mecole Hardman and Cornelius Johnson who spent last season on the practice squad.
Last Wednesday, Hardman closed out practice by catching an impressive 74-yard bomb from Jordan Love. Deep plays like that may be more important because Christian Watson will miss at least the first half of the season as he rehabs from knee surgery. Hardman has been noticed at OTAs by his playmaking and highlight reel catches.
Johnson also made an impact this offseason. He scored two touchdowns last Thursday and grabbed three passes last Wednesday including a 40-yard grab thrown by backup quarterback Malik Willis. Johnson remains a long shot to make the Packers roster, but he has certainly made a good impression during OTAs and minicamp, which is the first step for any player trying to make the team after a year on the practice squad.
@cheeseheadtv 🧀 Trey Hendrickson? TJ Watt? Jalen Ramsey? Asante Samuel Jr? Probably not. Expect something more like this…

Roster Battle: Kingsley Enagbare vs. Brenton Cox Jr.

One of the biggest roster battles in the history of the Green Bay Packers is about to commence this training camp!
Okay, not really—but it’s still pretty intriguing.
Looking at the current state of the Packers’ edge rusher group, we count four locks to make the team. Rashan Gary is still the leader of the group and should remain its most productive member for the foreseeable future—at least, that’s what the Packers are paying him to be. Lukas Van Ness is heading into a critical Year 3, where he really needs to take a step forward for the Packers to even consider a second contract.
Behind them are two 2025 rookies: fourth-rounder Barryn Sorrell, who I think will have the opportunity to play significant snaps right away (and is someone I’m very high on), and fifth-rounder Collin Oliver. Oliver is in a bit of an odd position. At 6’2” and 240 pounds, he doesn’t yet have the frame to hold up at edge on a down-to-down basis. He seems more like a designated pass rusher, at least for his rookie season, until he can add some functional weight and strength. That said, he’ll definitely be a factor on clear passing downs this year.
This Season Will Be a Big Test for Keisean Nixon
Shortly after the Green Bay Packers lost their playoff game to the Eagles in January, cornerback Keisean Nixon discussed his desire to be the team’s number one cornerback going forward. With the recent departure of Jaire Alexander, Nixon now has an excellent chance to stake a claim at that position in 2025. That is of course if he can prove that his strong play in 2024 was no fluke.
Initially, Nixon contributed as the slot corner on defense and did that job fairly well. But last season, after Alexander was injured and Eric Stokes struggled, Nixon moved from the slot to the boundary and played well. According to Pro Football Reference, opposing quarterbacks completed just 57.5 percent of their passes when throwing to receivers covered by Nixon last season and had a quarterback rating of 78.9. Nixon also broke up seven passes, intercepted one and forced three fumbles. He also recorded a career-high three sacks and proved to be an effective blitzer.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley was impressed with what Nixon accomplished last season. “I think Keisean’s had a really good year,” Hafley told reporters after the 2024 regular season ended. “It’s been kind of quiet that lot of people haven’t brought him up but look at what he’s been able to do. His coverage has been tight, he’s been able to blitz, he’s been aggressive against the run. I think Keisean needs to get more credit than he’s probably getting for all that we’ve asked him to do and all the different things he’s actually been able to have success with. I’m really proud of him.”
