Packers ready to make a statement
Packers Playoff Run Starts in December
Matt LaFleur’s Green Bay Packers teams have all but owned December football since he became the Packers head man in 2019. In five-plus years as the Packers head coach, LaFleur has now had winning seasons in five out of six years (2022 only losing season at 8-9) and his regular-season record after December 1 is an impressive 21-4. The success from LaFleur and the Packers includes undefeated 5-0 runs to end both 2019 and 2020. They lost the season finales in both 2021 and 2022 after going 4-0 in December. The only season with multiple losses in the last five weeks of the season was last year, with back-to-back December losses against the Giants and Bucs. Last year’s win over the Lions on Thanksgiving was a springboard to the Packers playing well in December, including a win over the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
This year’s Packers are 3-0 coming off their bye last month, but the December and January schedule will be very challenging. The team will travel to three of the tougher road environments in the NFC: December 5 at Detroit, December 15 at Seattle, and December 29 at Minnesota. All three teams are in the current NFC playoff standings, but all three teams have also lost at home this season. The Lions lost to the Bucs in Week 2, the Vikings lost to the Lions in Week 7 and the Seahawks are just 3-4 at home, including four straight home losses. Going into Week 14, the Packers are a likely wild card team for the NFL postseason, but a strong showing in these next five games will be a big determining factor in if this team will go far in January, or if its playoff visit will be a short one.

Maggie’s Pre-Game Six Pack - 2024 Week 14
The 9-3 Packers travel to Ford Field for Thursday Night Football to take on a surging 11-1 Lions team. Both division rivals took care of business at home on Thanksgiving to all but cement their status in the postseason. The division is going to come down to the wire (that includes those pesky Vikings who keep finding ways to squeak out wins), and a win on Thursday would certainly help Green Bay’s chances of claiming the North.
Maggie has six things to keep in mind heading into the NFC North contest.
Packer Transplants 291: It's just the game of the year
CHTV co-founders Corey Behnke and Aaron Nagler break down the Thanksgiving beatdown of the Dolphins and look ahead to a monster matchup with the Lions on Thursday night.
Devonte Wyatt Seems To Be Finding Form Again
After looking like a major breakout was in the works for Devonte Wyatt, including three sacks in the Green Bay Packers first three games, Wyatt has battled through injury and recent sightings as the missing person on the milk carton. After hitting the shelf from weeks five through seven with an ankle injury, Wyatt returned to receive his usual snap share but not his normal production.
As the Packers begin their December playoff push, with the team hitting stride in all facets, a cherry on top would be to get Wyatt producing how he was earlier this season.

Packers Periscope: Detroit Josh City
What a wonderful Thanksgiving. From watching the Bears lose in historic fashion (OK, it would have been nice if they won, but still...) to the way in which the Packers dominated a very-good-lately Dolphins team, it was a great day all around. But now we must throw out the Thanksgiving leftovers, of which there are plenty, and take a quick ride over Lake Michigan to Detroit for a huge game coming tonight. So let's hit the treadmill and burn off some holiday calories, raise up the ol 'Scope and look at the past, present and future of the Packers and the Motor City Kitties.
Mike Holmgren and Sterling Sharpe are finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025
The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced that former Packers head coach Mike Holmgren and former wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, are finalists for the Class of 2025.
Holmgren is this year’s coaching candidate. After seven years as coach of the Packers he spent 10 years as coach of the Seahawks. His 1996 Packers team won the Super Bowl and his team reached the Super Bowl the following year. He also reached a Super Bowl while coaching the Seahawks. Sharpe is one of three seniors candidates and played for Holmgren with the Packers while leading the NFL in catches three times, in receiving touchdowns twice and in receiving yards once. His career was cut short after seven seasons by a neck injury.
Holmgren and Sharpre will be considered alongside 15 modern-era players for the Class of 2025, which will be voted on in January and inducted in August.

The Lass Word: Quietly Outstanding
Green Bay’s offensive line is not making many mistakes lately. In fact, they are quietly developing into an outstanding unit. “We’re catching that rhythm, that flow,” right guard Sean Rhyan said. “The coaches can kinda see what works and what doesn’t work. We’ve got a core group of plays, a core group of pass concepts that work and we just lean on them. When things are at a standstill and we’re not getting what we want, then we just go back to them to get us back on track.”
Rhyan may be the best poster child for the maturation of the unit. The 2022 third round draft pick was largely thought to be a bust after his rookie season, having been suspended for six games for violating the league substance abuse policy. Last year he began to creep into the line-up, rotating with Jon Runyan Jr. This year the Packers seemed determined to groom first round pick Jordan Morgan for the right guard slot, but Morgan is on injured reserve. So Rhyan got his chance to prove his first-team mettle, and thus far he has more than held his own.
The performance of the offensive line is critical in every game to be sure, but it will be especially so in Thursday’s showdown at Detroit. The Lions specialize in physical, aggressive play, and the Packers must match the intensity. If Green Bay harbors any hope of winning the division, they must win this game. A loss puts them three back plus a tiebreaker. Realistically, the Packers are actually competing for the highest possible wild card seeding.
Three of the last five contests are tough road games at Detroit, Seattle and Minnesota. Winning at those venues is a major challenge, but this offensive line gives the Packers a solid shot in any game they play. They deserve more credit for it.
