Packers take care of business against 49ers
Josh Jacobs puts the Packers on his back
Josh Jacobs had his third career three rushing TD game and became the first Green Bay Packer since Dorsey Levens to have three TD and 100 YDS rushing in a game. The 28 point victory is the most by the Packers over the 49ers in their NFC rivalry matchup ever. QB Jordan Love went 13/23 throwing for 163 YDS with two TD and the Green Bay defense forced three turnovers including two turnover on downs.

Packers 38, Niners 10: Game Balls / Lame Calls
Now that’s how it’s done.
It wasn’t perfect, but Green Bay finally got back to what produces convincing wins, while giving Packer Nation a welcome break from hair pulling and nail biting. Behind a powerful run game, creative play calling and three key takeaways, the Packers took advantage of a diminished San Francisco team and delivered a 38-10 thumping to its long-time playoff nemesis.
On both sides of the ball, Sunday’s game had the earmarks of a head coach who was sick of the mistakes, underperformance and middling effort of the previous few weeks and cracked the whip on players, coaches and himself.
The Niners helped, first by limping into Lambeau without their stars at quarterback, left tackle and defensive end, and then committing crippling penalties, missing possible interceptions and letting a couple of key passes slip through their hands that would have turned the game the other way. Still, Green Bay stuck to its plan, executed well and owned the game during all but the third quarter.

The Lass Word: A lay-up waiting to happen
It kind of felt as though the Packers were playing against the Bellin Hospital emergency room. One by one, leading up to game day, San Francisco starters were being ruled out. By the time the game kicked off, at least five of the team’s best players were out. The cupboard was so bare that the Niners had to start a quarterback who hadn’t started a game in three years, and who was playing with a splint on the finger of his non-throwing hand.
The game was a lay-up waiting to happen, and thanks to some big defensive plays in the fourth quarter, the Packers made it just that. Along the way Green Bay hit some important benchmarks. They were five for five in the red zone. They started taking the ball away again after a two game drought. Jordan Love didn’t throw any interceptions. Although he had two that probably should have been picked. They are still plagued by silly pre-snap penalties, but on this day they had the good fortune to play a team who committed even more of them.
The win puts the Packers in solid position for the stretch run to the playoffs. It didn’t hurt that the Cowboys put another loss on the Commanders, and no serious wild card competitor has yet emerged from the NFC South or West. It would have been nice if the Bears had been able to pull off the comeback against the Vikings, but you can’t have everything, and after all, they are the Bears….
