Packers Waste Great Defensive Effort vs Eagles

Packers' Offense "Malfunctions" in 10-7 Loss

After a month marred by disconnected offensive football, the Green Bay Packers’ offense finally put together a consistent performance Monday night versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The offense consistently committed critical penalties; receivers consistently dropped passes in key moments; and the line consistently folded in an embarrassing prime time loss, 10-7.

“I’ve said this many times, if you hold good football teams to 10 points, you should win the football game,” coach Matt LaFleur said “Obviously we didn’t do enough offensively . . . When we got into those critical moments (third down and fourth down), we just malfunctioned.”

Jordan Love took a sack on Green Bay’s opening drive to knock the Packers out of field goal range. The next Packer drive ended when Aaron Banks committed a false start on fourth and short. Love took another sack two drives later, only this time he compounded the mistake with a fumble inside Philadelphia’s 30.

All of that ineptitude was only in the first half.

Bo Melton – the former receiver that is now a corner playing part-time receiver – ended Green Bay’s opening drive of the second half with a drop on fourth-and-9. Romeo Doubs preceded the play with a diving try, just to have the ball go off his fingertips. No other receivers were activated for the game despite Matthew Golden being ruled out with a shoulder injury, and Christian Watson still on a snap count returning from his knee injury. Watson was not on the field for the fourth-down attempt.

Melton effectively ended the next Packer possession when he lined up on the line of scrimmage, covering up a sixth offensive lineman that had reported eligible. The mental error negated a 22-yard completion to Christian Watson inside the Eagle 15.

Eagles 10 Packers 7 Game Balls & Lame Calls

On Monday, November 10th, there was a sporting event at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. History will remember that this game was played. The Eagles will remember that this game was played. The Packers' defense will remember this game.

The offense? We’re not convinced they were ever in the stadium.

Has anyone checked if there is a doppelganger situation happening? Perhaps the MonStars have drained the offense of their skill, in anticipation of a new Space Jam movie? Is it possible this Packers offense was too powerful, and that time travelers from the future had to come back to hamstring the offense, and prevent the Packers from making the game of football too boring?

As far as explanations go, well, that might be about all we got.

There just isn't much to explain what exactly happened on Monday night. The Packers defense allowed just ten points to the defending Super Bowl champions, putting together a complete game on all levels of the field to suffocate the Eagles. What more could have been expected of them?

Check out this week’s installment of Game Balls and Lame Calls.

Packers Snap Counts Vs. Philly: Week 10, 2025

The Packers signed Edge Arron Mosby and TE Josh Whyle to the 53-man roster to replace TE Tucker Kraft, who was placed on injured reserve. The Packers also signed TE McCallan Castles, TE Drqake Dabney, and WR Michael Woods to the practice squad. They released OC Lecitus Smith from the practice squad. The Packers 53-man roster and practice squad are now full.

The Packers elevated LB Kristian Welch from the PS. DE Lucas Van Ness (foot), and WR Matthew Golden, and CB Nate Hobbs were inactive due to injury. OL Donovan Jennings, OL Jacob Monk, and Kicker Lucas Havrisik were healthy scratches. QB Malik Willis was active but did not play.

Center Elgton Jenkins left the game with an ankle injury in the second quarter and did not return. Early indications are that Jenkins has a fractured leg. He will probably go on IR. Sean Ryan replaced Jenkins at center and the Packers will make Monk active on game days in future. Romeo Doubs left the game in the fourth quarter with a chest injury and also did not return.

Find out who played and how much in this week’s Packers Snap Counts.

The Lass Word: Urgent Issues

In a stacked NFC, two losses in a row will send you plummeting back into the middle of the pack.  After Monday night’s 10-7 loss to the Eagles, Green Bay has gone from the top seed in the conference, to seventh in two weeks.  They have dropped to third place in the division behind both the Lions and the Bears.

But this team has much more urgent issues to address than the playoff picture.  Their offense is currently dead on arrival.  There is a glaring lack of playmakers, a condition only made worse by the loss of Tucker Kraft and the unavailability of Matthew Golden. By the fourth quarter, Romeo Doubs was also out of the game with a chest injury. Jordan Love makes his share of bad decisions and throws, but it’s not all on him.  Receivers are not getting open, or dropping the ball, the offensive line is not keeping his pocket clean, and there are no big plays in the running game.  Josh Jacobs runs hard, but he’s not a speedy, big play game breaker.  That was supposed to be MarShawn Lloyd.  But he can’t even get on the field.

The Eagles won this game basically on two big plays from two big playmakers.  Saquon Barkley’s 41 yard run after the catch, and Davonta Smith’s 36 yard touchdown catch on a 50-50 ball.  The Packers simply don’t seem to have equivalent players.  More disturbing, the offense is not improving.  It is regressing.  13 points against Carolina.  7 points against Philly.  Both games at home.  That stings.  It’s on the coaches now to pick up the pieces.  Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson are not coming through that door. This offense needs to figure out what the players they have can do best, and play to it…
