Ready for the preseason!

Starting to get some answers

The Packers travel to Cleveland this weekend to kick off the preseason with plenty of questions along the roster that will begin to get answered.

One growing concern is the swing tackle spot. Is there a third tackle on this team? Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom will start, but the position seems quite shaky behind them. Andre Dillard was a bust as a former first round pick in Philadelphia, and last year with the Titans he led the NFL in sacks allowed. The other prospects are Kadeem Telfort, Caleb Jones, Luke Tenuta, and Travis Glover. Elgton Jenkins could play tackle if he had to, but that only weakens the inside. Someone really needs to step up.

Jordan Morgan to miss time with shoulder injury

Matt LaFleur indicated on Wednesday morning that rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan will miss some time with a shoulder injury. The team's first round selection in this past April's draft, Morgan had been playing right guard with the starting offensive line for much of camp.

Third year lineman Sean Rhyan has been competing with Morgan for the right guard job and will be given first chance to hold down the fort while Morgan heals up.

Packers TE Tucker Kraft taken off PUP

The Packers have taken second year tight end Tucker Kraft off of the physically unable to perform list. He’s started practicing but only during individual drills. Zach Tom who, like Kraft, is coming back from a torn pectoral muscle, has been of fhe PUP for nearly two weeks and will only start working during team periods during today's practice. It stands to reason the Packers medical staff will be just as cautious with Kraft.

What Do Madden Ratings Say About the Packers?

Madden NFL 25 will be available worldwide on August 16, with early access starting on August 13 for those who pre-ordered the game. With the full ratings of Packers' players now revealed, what can we take away from them?

Jordan Love is rated 81 overall, which feels low. He finished second in passing touchdowns and seventh in passing yards. Love also led all quarterbacks in big-time throws against the blitz and ranked among the top four QBs in big-time throws under pressure, tying with Josh Allen and trailing only MVP Lamar Jackson and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. Notably, Love was PFF's highest-graded quarterback from Week 12 until the postseason. Despite being tied with CJ Stroud for the 14th highest quarterback rating, it's arguable that there aren't thirteen quarterbacks better than him. Expect Love’s rating to get a bump up throughout the season.

Love Getting More Trust from LaFleur

Mindful of the continued growth of his starting quarterback, Matt LaFleur has his fifth year veteran calling his own plays in two minute drills during this training camp. “I just think it’s good for him to be in an uncomfortable situation and get that experience,” LaFleur said Thursday. Just as they were was last season, the results in this camp have been mixed. Love has led the first team offense on some impressive scoring drives, but has also thrown some picks and missed a few open receivers. “It’s kind of a work in progress,” LaFleur allows.

Can Packers Rookie Cornerback Kalen King Prove the Doubters Wrong?

The past year has not been an easy one for Packers rookie cornerback Kalen King. Before the start of the 2023 season, the former Penn State star was viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in the country. Most scouts projected him as a potential first-round draft pick. His future seemed bright. But King struggled through the 2023 season. His stock fell from a potential first round pick to being one of the final selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst selected King in the seventh round with the 255th overall pick.

King is off to a good start in Packers camp, but he still has a lot to prove. He fully realizes how important training camp and the preseason will be for his future. If he plays well, he can overcome his initial status as a seventh-round draft pick and give the Packers outstanding value as he begins his NFL career.

Jeff Hafley Has Pressure On Him

Jeff Hafley walked into a perfect situation. The first year Packers defensive coordinator just has to do everything the exact opposite of former defensive coordinator Joe Barry and everything should be fine right? Well, it isn’t exactly that easy. Hafley has the most pressure of any player or coach on this team, writes Cory Jennerjohn.
