Training camp is officially underway. The Packers are nearly a full week in, and there’s already plenty to sort through on the field — some of it news, some of it noise.

That’s where this stock report comes in. Think of it like the stock market — it rises and falls any given day. The same concept is applied here. A few good reps strung together, run with the first-team offense or defense, praise from coaches and teammates — that’s all stock rising. Bad reps, a role demotion, a shaky performance — that’s stock dropping. It’s not a final verdict on anyone. It’s a snapshot of where things stand right now, five practices into camp, before the pads are fully on and before the preseason games begin.

So here’s where things stand for a handful of Packers through the first week — who’s building momentum, and who needs to turn it around before it’s too late.

Packers Offense Relying on a "Big 3" At Wide Receiver

Heading into the 2026 NFL season, one of the more intriguing aspects to the Green Bay Packers this year will be how their passing attack does with the trio of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden.

The trio is as talented as a group as the Packers have had in awhile at the position. Watson and Reed were both 2nd round picks in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Golden was a 2025 first round pick, the first wide receiver to be taken in the first round since the 2002 draft.

This year’s depth chart has the three players as the clear starters at the two outside wide receiver positions (Z-Watson, X-Golden) and the inside slot receiver (Reed).

Having a “Big 3” at wide receiver has been rare for the Packers on offense in the last two decades. When Aaron Rodgers was in his first five seasons as a starter, the passing attack had four and sometimes five wide receivers that could be all featured in different games.

From 2008 to 2012, the Packers had five different wide receivers (Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, James Jones) lead the team in receptions, yards or touchdowns in a season.

Now it will come down to head coach Matt LaFleur to both give them plenty of snaps and opportunities in the passing game as well as do his best to keep them healthy for an entire season. This means, will any of these three be used as a “gadget guy” on jet sweeps and bubble screens, which equals more punishment for a wide receiver.

Playing as many games as possible as well as being around in January for a playoff run will be one of the more important elements for a successful 2026 season.

Zach Tom Changes Name to Zach Bako-Bewele

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Zach Tom will be known by a new name moving forward. The standout right tackle is legally changing his name to Zach Bako-Bewele, combining the Nigerian last names of his grandparents. Bako-Bewele told reporters the decision was about honoring his family's heritage and creating a legacy for future generations.

"Especially when I start having kids, I want to have a name that I can pass down where it represents where they came from, where I came from."

The name change reflects a deeply personal decision for one of the Packers' cornerstone players.

Wasting No Time: Invest in Golden Stock

The newest 23-year-old on the Green Bay Packers is wasting no time to break back onto the scene. Matthew Golden just a few days leading up to his August 1st birthday is heading in the right direction toward embracing more opportunity in his second campaign.

Golden’s name has been all over the place already during camp. Underneath’s, outs, go routes, over the shoulder catches, everything Packer fans have been waiting for with bated breath for the 1st rounder out of Texas.

There is legitimate reason to be excited for #0, his final play in the 2025 season proved that more than ever. When speaking on how much his performance vs Chicago in the Wild Card validated himself, Golden answered it perfectly.

“You always know what you can do. Whenever your number is called, as long as you go out there and do what you can do and insert who you are as a person that’s all you can do. For me, that’s all I could do in that moment.”

An answer wise beyond his years, he clearly felt he could provide more than he was being allocated to, but making the most of when your number is called is all you can do in those moments.

The time is now to buy stock in Matthew Golden if you haven’t already. Otherwise, the bus is leaving.

Don’t Expect a Vita Vea Trade

The Green Bay Packers have been connected to just about every notable pass rusher and defensive lineman that comes available over the last several years, and the latest name to generate excitement is Tampa Bay Buccaneers star defensive tackle Vita Vea. After reports surfaced that Vea requested a trade following stalled contract negotiations, Packers fans immediately began imagining what the two-time Pro Bowler could do in Jonathan Gannon’s defense. On paper, it sounds like the perfect move. In reality, Packers fans shouldn't expect Brian Gutekunst to make a move.

That isn't because Vea isn't one of the NFL's premier interior defenders. He absolutely is. At 6-foot-4 and well over 340 pounds, Vea is one of the league's most dominant run defenders while still providing surprising value as a pass rusher. He consistently commands double teams, collapses the pocket, and changes offensive game plans before the ball is even snapped. Players with that kind of impact rarely become available. His trade request is real, but Tampa Bay has given every indication it still values him as a cornerstone of its defense despite the contract dispute. Head coach Todd Bowles even stated there have been no discussions about trading Vea after the request became public.

Even if Tampa Bay eventually decides to listen to offers, Green Bay doesn't profile as a likely landing spot.
