The Packers are headed to the playoffs!
Packers thoroughly dominate Saints
With two days until Christmas, the Lambeau faithful were given the gift of a Green Bay Packers shut out victory over the New Orleans Saints 34-0. Three different running backs scored a touchdown as RB Josh Jacobs finished with 69 YDS on 13 carries and his sixth straight game with a TD. QB Jordan Love went 16/28 throwing for 182 YDS and a TD while completing to 10 different receivers. The offensive line once again did not give up a sack and LB Edgerrin Cooper had another impactful game leading the team with 10 tackles.

Packers 34, Saints 0: Game Balls / Lame Calls
happen until week 16, and would be authored by the Green Bay Packers. Most people would have walked away, laughing. Instead, the Packers had a laugher against the New Orleans Saints, 34-0, sewing up a playoff spot in the bargain.
It was a feel-good, holiday themed night at snow-dusted Lambeau, and the Packers accomplished some important things: They took care of business — with no late drama — against an inferior, struggling franchise missing five top starters and playing a rookie, backup quarterback. They came away from the game mostly unscathed, with the only question mark being Christian Watson, who aggravated a problematic knee. And they kept their momentum going heading into a key game against the Vikings.
Yet as lopsided as the game was, it was hard to view it as Green Bay at its best, which is what will be required to bring the Lombardi trophy back to its ancestral home. Yes, the defense gave up nothing, with three sacks and two takeaways. And the offense put up 30 or more points for a fifth straight game with another balanced effort. But the Saints are a train wreck, and with the exception of the Lions, none of the teams Green Bay has defeated since week nine is likely to make the playoffs.

The Lass Word: Impressive physicality
The Packers entered their week sixteen contest against the Saints with two main objectives: Number one, put the game away early. Don’t let an injury-riddled, overmatched team hang around and gather hope and confidence. This was accomplished with touchdowns on Green Bay’s first three drives. By early in the second quarter the outcome was no longer in doubt.
Second, play four quarters of good, consistent football. Only the defense can check this box. Facing a rookie quarterback who had no playmakers to lean on, the pass rushers teed off and got steady pressure, forcing inaccurate throws or harmless checkdowns. Any semblance of a running game was quickly squelched. Meanwhile the offense sputtered through a lackluster second half, managing just two field goals before Malik Willis took over at quarterback to lead a late touchdown drive.
The most impressive aspect of this 34-0 victory was the physical way in which Green Bay took care of business. The Packers played hard-nosed, December cold weather football. It’s not often you can confidently say Green Bay was the more physical team, but that was never in doubt in this game. They were delivering the blows on both sides of the ball. This is the kind of bully ball that will be mandatory when they take the field against Minnesota in six days, and which will be even more important when they begin the playoffs, which they also clinched with this win…
